Chanel is one of today’s best known and most highly sought-after fashion brands, and has been one practically since it was founded by Coco (Gabrielle) Chanel in 1909. Her big break hit when she opened a small shop in Paris in 1910 where she sold her hats. And by 1913, after asserting disdain for resort wear, she launched sportswear: Her take was simpler—flannel blazers, jersey sweaters, and women in trousers, all of which were decidedly against twentieth-century culture memes. Chanel was trendsetting before there were trends. Her post–World War I look gained attention, as she brought on modernism in fashion through beaded dresses in the twenties, the infamous little black dress, as well as a two- or thee-piece suit, which is still a signature Chanel look. By 1921 she introduced Chanel No. 5, and was once quoted as saying "A woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future." No. 5 went on to become one of the best-selling fragrances of all time. After a period away from Paris, Chanel returned after the Second World War in the fifties, a time when Christian Dior was touted as Paris's premiere couturier. However, Chanel rose again with the launch of her chain-link belt and quilted leather bags—today with the interlocking C's—reestablishing Chanel as the definition of classy glamour with an edge. Coco passed in 1971, but the brand continued, even launching their first ready-to-wear collection in 1978. Yet without a lead designer to be the face of the brand, the house struggled to maintain its enchanting reputation for luxury. That is, until Karl Lagerfeld joined in 1983 to revive it to its elite status, which he did with added glamour and sexiness. Today, Chanel stands out in just about every category—couture, ready-to-wear, accessories, jewelry, shoes, and fragrances. What began as a no-nonsense approach to fashion, designed to let women be comfortable while looking dignified, has been translated into classic, tailored style, especially in ready-to-wear, where the traditional tweed Chanel suit with a nipped-at-the-waist cardigan jacket remains one of the most popular—and most copied—fashion staples. Evening gowns tend to have an understated sex appeal and a bit of whimsy, and appear in luxurious fabrics with lots of embellishments. Yet, there is always an undeniable element of the house's founder. "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous," Coco Chanel once said. Fitting, since that's the absolute embodiment of the label even a century after it was founded.

All About Eyes

September 22, 2009

I know all we blog about is hair to enhance your look, but what about the rest of your face? What happens if you want fringe to draw attention to your eyes but don’t feel the size and shape of your eyes are dynamic enough to carry it off? Typically, the solution is probably heavy kohl eyeliner. However, I’ve discovered myself a few years back the wonders of falsies. You would think that they’re only used for professional photo shoots or celebrity events. Surprisingly, in this recession I’ve noticed increased trends and needs for false eyelashes for the everyday woman. Even the First Lady Michelle Obama has been following the trend.  She’s mentioned during interviews I’ve seen to say that she’s worn false eyelashes most recently last month in the UK. To me, false eyelashes enhance the eyes more than just eyeliner.  They open up the eye and thus your entire face as well. The accessory adds a more feminine charm and come-hither aspect to the eyes.

TLB-2009-Email-3_FINAL_04.jpg

Falsies are not just for drag queens, movie stars or even First Ladies. Just like wigs, false eyelashes come in a variety of shapes, lengths, densities and materials. They can be used to dramatize or subtly enhance the eyes.  Wigs and false eyelashes have more in common than you’d think! I’ve seen $400 fox fur eyelashes down to a set of $2 synthetic fiber lashes. In any case, legendary film maker D.W. Griffith was a genius. Who would have thought that by him hiring a wigmaker to construct eyelashes from human hair and gauze in the early 1900s would lead to this? Just as he had intended for the false eyelashes to do, they create a glamorous wide-eyed look.

Most known for headlining the fashion world with their coveted couture eyelashes is Shu Uemura.  Their lashes range anywhere from $20-$95 for a pair.   Currently on my most wanted list: Farfallina lashes from Shu’s Tokyo Lash Bar 2009 collection just released today:

They are the perfectly romantic pair to dress up the eyes for the doe-eyed look.  I’m thinking to try this with Still Curls by Forever Young this weekend.  :D

Summer Wedding Hairstyles We Love

Posted by Jaqueline salimen

It’s starting to finally feel like summer!  It’s definitely the preferred season for weddings.  Aside from the dress and makeup, another important component to the wedding day look is having the perfect hair.  I’ve come across some of my own favorite hairstyles while helping my girl friends with their weddings for this season.  My favorites range from glamorous to bohemian.

Classic:

A low knotted bun or low side swept pony tail is flattering and conservative no matter the gown. Try simple clean makeup for a timeless look in your photos.  You can never go wrong w/ a classic look.
0022_primary.jpg

0044_primary.jpg

Glamourous:

Bouffants and teased crowns will add the red-carpet aspect to your style for the special day.  The idea is stunning elegance. Try emphasizing one feature only with makeup.  Either heavy colored lips or a smokey eye.  Having both would overwhelm your face and detract attention from a focal point. If your hair is very exaggerated, try going with a nude palette for makeup that’s sharply understated to contrast the hair.

007_primary.jpg

Casual:

These styles are great for outdoor weddings.  They do well even if it’s a bit breezy.  The basics of these styles are free-flowing tresses that are styled to look natural and beach ready.  Be free with your makeup options here. Go for a bronzier look if your planning to tan or be near the beach.  Try cooler palettes if your setting is more of a garden type environment.

Romantic:

Like straight from a storybook fairytale, this style should make you feel like a princess on your special day.  Here we have styles that emphasize warmth, sweetness and in some cases a slight playfulness with the loose curls. Makeup here should be fairly warm and emphasize the romantic style in your hair. Try shades of peach blush suitable for your skin tone or even a stained lip to emphasize a youthfulness to the look.
008_primary.jpg

005_sec01.jpg

001_primary.jpg

Bohemian:

For the free-spirit, loose touseled and unkempt hair is the rule.  Try adding hair accessories to glamourize your wavy hair.  Try makeup earth-tones like nudes, browns, pinks and peaches.  Peachy-pink lips are perfect to compliment this style.
0010_primary.jpg

013_primary.jpg

Modern:

Styles for the ultimately chic women,  this hair emphasizes a woman with a bold statement.  Lines are defined and sleek reflecting the modern take on beauty and feminine qualities. Don’t be afraid to try liquid eyeliner for a well-defined edgy eye to pair with a sharp hair-do.  Be bold but simple with hair accessories here.  The idea is to make a statement, but in a minimalist way.

The Perfect Ponytails

September 22, 2009

With the weather heating up, most of us want to get that hair out of our face.  It’s much easier to tie our hair up and head out the door feeling cool and comfortable in the heat than it is to style our hair with long waves hoping they last through the heat and sometimes humidity.  The ponytail is a classic style that you can never go wrong with.  The style holds well in any weather and looks great for any occasion with a bit of styling and hair product.  But how do you make such a classic and practical style not boring? I’ve listed a few ways to make the classic ponytail different, fun, fresh and perfect for summer.

Low, Side-Parted Ponytail:  Try moving the pony tail to the side, and add some curls with your curling iron.. if you have bangs, you can side part it either opposing the ponytail or on the same side.  Eva Longoria is pictured w/ a low side-parted ponytail with waves and a teased crown.  This glams up the ponytail for any occasion. Lauren Conrad has only a slightly teased crown and has side-swept her bangs and tucked them behind her ears for a slightly more sleek look.  Nicole Richie is shown with a more casual pony tail, loose waves and a slightly messy and natural feel.

2224555689_db865e227a_o2.jpg

Nicole Kidman has a very basic low, side-parted ponytail here.  There’s not much styling involved, but with the right outfit and simple makeup, this style can go a long way. She’s opted to dress up the style for evening by emphasizing her lips with a dramatic berry/rouge lip color.

nicole_kidman300.jpg

Low Pontail:  Eva Mendez opted for a low pony tail with a natural middle part.  With face framing layers, this softens the harsh part she has and also accents the facial structure she has.
1eva.jpg

Cate Blanchett’s low pony tail is also very sleek but with loose bangs the style looks more fresh and natural. Large accessories accent this look and add more style.  Try over-sized studded earrings or a large necklace like Cate’s.
cate_blanchett.jpg

High Ponytail:  For a more playful look, try the classic high ponytail.  Kate Beckinsale is seen below with a bouffant style to add some old hollywood glamor to her high ponytail.
kate-beckinsale-pony-tail.jpg

Lucy Liu is shown below with the ponytail placed high on her crown with her hair wrapped around the base.  This is also considered a playful look.  She’s given the ponytail a flip at the ends to give the entire tail the “S” shape. With such a dramatic sleek style, she’s paired the look with emphasized eyes and youthful pink lips to soften and balance the overall image.
1006-lucy-liuli-main_Full.jpg

Drew has opted to flip the ends out for a sweet 70’s look and has also wrapped her hair around the ponytail hiding the elastic.  This is a great look for both day or evening.
drew-barrymore-ponytail-hairstyle2.jpg

Anne Hathaway’s ponytail is loosely gathered with curls added for a fuller tail but not over-done look.   You can loosely brush back your hair and lightly mist with a holding spray to set the style.  This should guard against fly-away and stray hairs during the summer heat and humidity.

If your hair is sparse or short, use clip-in ponytails.

What's Your Face Shape?

September 22, 2009

What’s Your Face Shape?

The most commonly asked questions: What’s the best style for my face shape? How do I determine my face shape?

I haven’t directly addressed this before, but decided that it’s a great topic to be blogged about. We’ll start with the basics.  There are a a few different common basic face shapes.

The Oval face shape is probably the easiest to recognize. This type of face is a bit longer than it is wide and the line of your cheekbones will be noticeably wider than the rest of your face. Jessica Biel has a very classically oval face shape, as does Rihanna

oval_jessicabiel005_250h.jpg

Almost any hairstyle is suitable for this face shape. Oval face shapes can get away with either center or side parts that will both be equally flattering.  A long layered style best shows off the face shape and can bring light to facial features like great cheekbones or stunning eyes.  Avoid styles that add height near the crown.

oval_rihanna_bd.jpg

Square face shapes are just as they would seem. The width of your forehead, cheeks and jawline is roughly equal. We can see this on Jessica Simpson.

square_jessica-simpson_bd.jpg

You can soften she angles of the face with subtle layers or more rounded styles.  To balance out angles near the jaw-bone, try a side-swept bangs with long layered waves.  This brings more attention to the cheekbones and the upper half of the face. The subtle waves will soften the harsher edges of the face.
Typically, the hair should be around shoulder length for the most flattering style.  If you choose to go shorter, the length should hit just above or below your jaw line. Avoid harsh center parts as this will widen the face, and avoid blunt bangs or one length styles.

Kyra Sedgewick has a great hairstyle that plays up all the specifics of a style to compliment her square face shape: side swept bangs, soft layers/waves, and the length is just around shoulder length.

square_KyraSedgwick004_250h.jpg

Another common face shape is the Heart shape. The shape is defined by being broadened at the forehead and then tapers into a small, narrow chin.  This can also be considered a triangle face shape.  We can see evident examples of this as such on Brittany Murphy and Reese Witherspoon.
heart_BrittanyMurphyMay2005_250h1.jpg

Since the chin tends to be the focal point on this shape,, bring attention to your eyes and cheekbones instead with sideswept bangs, brow-grazing fringe and a strong part.  and hair that falls at or below your jawline. If you decide to have short hair, keep the top layers soft and long.  Long layers are best for long-length hair for this face shape.
heart_reese_bd1.jpg

The main point is to focus on styles that add width from the jaw line downwards to balance a pointy/prominent chin. This shape is widest across the forehead and temple area.  Side-swept fringe and deep parts will break up the width and balance it.  We can see the deep part on both Brittany Murphy’s pony-tail and also Reese’s short wavy hair.

The Rectangle face shape is similar to a square one. The face is even in proportion from the forhead to the chin and has harsher edges.  You can soften and give the illusion of a more balanced face shap by adding body and volume along the sides to counter the length of the face. Avoid wearing your hair straight and long since this will just add length to the face and bring attention to the harsh angles of the face.

rectangle_NaomiCampbell0012004_250h.jpg

Naomi Campbell does just this by wearing her long hair in full waves all along the sides.  This actually make her face look oval, although upon taking a closer look, we know that her face is a classic rectangular shape.  See what differences a hairstyle can make?

Round face shapes have the widest point at the cheeks and ears. They are full looking faces with a rounder chin and hairline.  Christina Ricci is a great example of this face shape.
round_christina_ricci.jpg

For Round faces, avoid chin length hair as that draws emphasis to the fullness of the shape.  Center parts also draw attention to the wideness of the face.  Avoid styles with straight bangs or short straight crops. Also be sure to avoid hairstyles full along the side.  This will only accentuate the fullness of the round shape. Instead, try hairstyles that add fullness at the crown, or off-center parts.  Christina Ricci has shown us how the off-center part can help balance out the roundness. She’s also utilized the style of a swept-back/sleeked look to detract from the fullness of the face.  Layering near the crown can also allow a hairstyle to help elongate/narrow the face.

Triangular face shapes are the reverse of the heart shape.  The face is exemplified by a strong/dominant jaw line and is narrow at the cheeks and temples.  Triangular faces should try shorter hair that can balance the strong jaw line.  Styles fuller at the temples that taper at the jaw are good for triangular shapes.  To detract from the narrow forehead area, utilize off-center parts or heavily layered shag hairstyles. Layers will be able to balance the lack of fullness in the forehead.

Be sure to avoid center parts or styles with too much height at the crown.  Hair length should not be longer than the nape of the neck.
triangle_kathy_chevy.jpg

Kathy Ireland has a triangle face shape and although her hair is long, she keeps the fullness and volume around the temple area to balance her face shape.

The Diamond Face is a combination of the heard and a dramatic oval shape.  It’s widest at the cheekbones, and narrow at the forehead and jawline. Jordana Brewster is a good example of this face shape.
diamond__triangle_JordanaBrewsterColorOfM&MsMarch2004_250h1.jpg

Try add softness and width at the cheekbones and fill out a pointed chin. Hairstyles with sleek side panels will slim the wide cheekbone areas. It’s suggested to add fullness around the forehead and chin to for a more balanced oval appearance. You can see on Jordana that she plays down her narrow forhead with bangs and uses the idea of sleek side panels slimming her wide cheek area.

I hope this general guide helps everyone that’s been puzzled about what hairstyle actually suits their face shape.  Feel free to email me with more questions if you’re still having trouble determining your face shape.

Supermodel Agyness Deyn’s Peroxide Pixie

We’ve been seeing the trend of long locks everywhere lately.  Celebs and A-listers alike have all been adding inches to their frocks with the help of permanent bonded extensions or temporary clip-in extensions. Whether it’s long and straight or lusciously wavy, getting long hair without waiting for it to grow has been the trend.  Starlettes have been seen adding fringe either with a permanent cut or clip-in hair pieces too! With summer right around the corner, everyone’s just itching for that new style to step out into the sun with.

But, there’s only so much you can do with adding to real hair without actually changing the length/texture.Having long hair has it’s conveniences and pros but sometimes we just want to be released! For those of us not bold enough to really chop our hair off, a wig seems like the next best thing.

I’ve recently been obsessed with Agyness Deyn. She’s all over the fashion scene and most recently crowned the spokesmodel for Jean-Paul Gaultier’s fragrance for the sweet and edgy: woman Ma’Dame.

1madame.jpg

Her short peroxide pixie has been deemed the Aggy cut. It’s all the rave in the fashion world now.  Even Victoria Beckham that brought the assymetrical bob back a few years ago has razored her hair to catch up with the new trend. She’s pictured below with her fresh new look.

posh-pixie.jpg

The new craze for the peroxide pixie has been taking over the fashion scene and is Jean-Paul Gaultier’s ideal image of what he considers the modern ‘Garconne’ woman.  The hair style and image exudes a woman of flair, style and spark. This style is not for the shy! Here, We can see a simple and natural look with the hairstyle.
adeyn_08sept_gross2.jpg

It’s versatile enough to show off the soft side of a woman as well as the sparkle and edgy side of working modern women. The blonde cut looks great on fair skin with a heavy smokey eye and pale nude lips like Agyness has below.
agynessdeyn.jpg

We have a few options if you want to try out the style before the big cut!  I think the Allure wig by Jon Renau comes very close to Agyness’ hair.  I comes in a platinum shade as well!

Not bad for something temporary and you can always go back to your own hair or extensions if you want!  Try it for a party or a night out with a new edgy outfit.

Differente Bangs for Different Face Shapes??

September 21, 2009

Bangs. Yes or no? Undoubtedly, bangs are always in fashion. They’re like an accessory in my opinion.  You can change your look completely just by adding bangs or growing them out/pinning them back. We’re always growing out our bangs or cutting them, actually.  So after you’ve decided that you want bangs now,  how do you know what cut goes best with your current style? We know there are hairstyles that flatter different face shapes more and this is definitely true for fringe as well.

I’m currently loving Kate Moss’ old mid-length hair with bangs.
katemossbangs Amy Sussman Getty Images for ebay.JPG

Oval Face Shapes:

Any type of fringe is ok with this face shape.  It’s the most forgiving of all face shapes, so pick any style and just have fun with it.  Remember to consider your hair texture to get the most flattering cut, ie, fine hair can try side-swept styles and thick textures can try blunt cuts.

Round Face Shapes:

The best style for this face shape will be face framing layers that blend the bangs with the rest of the hair cut.  This minimized the roundness of the face and adds length.  Try layering and feathering the bangs and go for a length that hits around the cheek area.  This will add definition to the cheekbones.

Long Face Shapes:

Blunt bangs work well for long faces.  This helps break up the face and will create more of an oval-shaped face.  Blunt bangs that hit around the brow bone area will create this proportion.  For a softer approach, you can try long or graduated layers around the face for a framing effect that’s always flattering.

Square Face Shapes:

Always stick with side-swept bangs. This will break up the width of the forehead.  Make sure the side-swept bangs taper inwards softly toward the jaw line.  This will also soften the angled jawline of the face.

Heart Face Shape:

The objective for this face shape is to draw attention away from the wideness of the forhead and the pointy chin.  The best bangs for this are side swept feathered bangs or textured bangs.  Some may consider trying full bangs if they have the right texture hair.  Cut straight across, full bangs can help balance out this face shap as wel.

Triangle Face Shape:

Wider cut bangs work best for this face shape.  Due to the angular nature of the face shape, it’s best to soften the bone structure with feathered or wispy bangs.  This can create more of an oval shape.  The feathered fringe will hide the widest points of the forehead and will balance this out in proportion to the chin.  Flat, pageboy fringes are definitely not recommended.

Good luck with whichever style you choose! Be experimental and don’t worry, hair grows back!  In the meantime, you can always use extensions, clip-ins or a wig. LOL :D

Interesting Runway Hair for Spring 2010.

September 21, 2009

Marc Jacobs take for his 2010 s/s show was ivory porcelein faces, red doll lips with tons of black liquid eyeliner.  The hair? an barely attractive top knot.  The look reminds me of Olive Oil from the Popeye cartoon.  I’m not sure if he was going for the mime look, but that’s what comes across to me.  However, hair and makeup aside, I’m still loving his ready-to-wear line. Can’t wait for the line to hit stores.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs line sports more playful and whimsical styles with over sized bow accessories and a loosely tucked french twist. I’m liking this look for younger girls.  It’s actually wearable and would look great out on the streets shopping or lounging on Melrose.

Vera Wang opted for nude makeup, defined brows and a loose bouffant with low tucked chignon.  This look is great for work or nights when the look calls to be more refined and put together.  The overall look is so understated that oversized and overjewelled accessories are a must to pull off this look in my opinion.

The 80’s are back at Derek Lam’s show.  The makeup is inspired by Coney Island and the movie Body Heat.  For a dangerous and edgy look, you can try this style.  I’m not sure about walking out in broad daylight with the makeup though.  That might have to be reserved for your own photo shoots or an underground club.

Goddess waves and bohemian flower child hair accessories tipped in gold were spotted at Diane Von Furstenberg’s show.  I’ve always loved mermaid waves.  Goddess waves are right up there as well.  This look is perfect for the boho-chic girl in everyone.  If you’re hair is absurdly short but want that look anyway, just add the accessories.  I just had to include this photo since she’s my favorite model right now.  You might recognize her from Barney’s recent denim catalogue.  You can never go wrong w/ androgyny in fashion!

Most Popular Hollywood Haircuts Right Now

Here’s a quick look at the hottest haircuts in Hollywood right now.  From short crops to full and flowing locks, we’ve covered it all.  There’s a top style for every person here!

For a assymetrical take on a pixie cut, try Rihanna’s close crop with long layers in the front.  For added attitude, be sure to try out skinny streaks in blonde for darker hair.

masl02_closecrop_rihanna.jpg

Try deep, blunt bangs.  I’m not a big fan of this hairstyle as it’s really hard to pull off.  Even on super model Agyness Deyn I don’t think it’s that great. However, if you’re looking for something totally different and attention getting, you could try this option.

masl01_closecrop_agyness.jpg

Another great short crop right now is Halle Barry’s pixie.  Try styling this with a bit of pomade or hair wax, grabbing the tips of the hair in random directions to add texture to the style.

masl03_closecrop_halle.jpg

Katie Holme’s bob is one of my favorite looks.  It’s clean and polished with long layers.  The A-line shape gives it a modern look that’s sleek and refined.
masl12_bob_katie.jpg

I love this bob on Reese Witherspoon.  The wavy texture really creates a soft and glamorous look.  I would use a diffuser for this when your hair is half dry, after brushing styling cream through your hair.
masl11_bob_reese.jpg

Another classic take on the bob here.  Michelle Obama’s diagonally side-parted bob is elegant and flattering.  Be sure to use smoothing cream and a shine spray to control friz and fly-aways for this style.

masl10_bob_michelle.jpg

Leslie Bibb sports a textured bob with long eye-level bangs.  This haircut is best styled with some mousse at the roots for volume and thickening spray for added texture to create the piecey look.

masl13_bob_leslie.jpg

I especially like this style, and not just because it’s on Kate Moss.  It’s undeniable she always looks fabubulous, but this mid-length cut with long layers and thick eye-level bangs is perfect for a more dramatic look.  Be sure to curl the ends inwards with a large barrel curling iron and finish off with a shine serum.

masl07_midlength_kate.jpg

Selma Blair’s rendition of the mid-length layered look with long bangs is also a lively look to try.  This one has more layers than Kate’s style.  The chin-length layers add more movement to the style and a softer more subtle appeal. Style with some texturizing paste on the ends for separation and blow dry w/ a medium-barrel brush to give volume to the bangs.

masl08_midlength_selma.jpg

For those that don’t like to have bangs or are unsuitable for them, you can try Gwenyth Paltrow’s style.  The long chopped ends give this look a naturally edgy feel.  Subtle texture and waves give the hairstyle some movement and life.  This look is good with an outfit with sharp lines for contrast against the textured hair.
masl09_midlength_gwyneth.jpg

JLo has a fantastic mane is full of volume and shape.  Her long angled layers and bangs add life to an otherwise long and boring hairstyle.  The thinned ends helps add volume and body to the hair.

Top Anti-Ageing Hair Tips for women

1. Softer, loose curls or waves make anyone appear younger. Steer away from sharp angles and severe shapes.
2. Slightly longer hair is also more youthful. Each person’s facial and body shape is different as is the texture of their hair. Therefore it is important to customise the longer length that would be appropriate for you.
3. Softer, slightly lighter hair color with varying tones also helps produce a younger appearance. Steer clear of too dark, too solid shades. Just like hair, skin tone and color slightly changes as we age. Therefore our hair color must change with it.
4. Hair color should always compliment the client’s skin and eye color no matter what their age. For an older clients, we always recommend that they lean towards the lighter of any shades selected.
5. The best way for a person to look younger is to keep their hair in a perfect state of health with the proper at-home and in-salon regime. Healthy, shiny hair is younger looking hair.

The big “No nos” for older women…

1. Too severe or too short of a hairstyle.
2. Too dark or too monochromatic hair color.
3. Dry, brittle and breaking hair makes anyone look older.
4. Too long or too short extremes don’t really compliment.
5. Hair that is teased, hair sprayed and fixed perfectly and also can be ageing. Hair should be neat but slightly disheveled looks modern and carefree. No helmet hair.

Hair Treatments WELEDA IS MY FAVORITE BRAND, PURE BEAUTY

Strengthening Hair Treatment

Deeply care for your hair before sun exposure or anytime for a strengthening treatment with Weleda Rosemary Hair Oil. Protect the hair from the sun, sea salt and chlorine by massaging a few drops of Rosemary Hair Oil into the scalp. For an intensive treatment, massage a quarter-size to one-third of the bottle of a bottle of the oil onto the hair and cover with foil or a shower cap. Leave on for at least 40 minutes while you relax to restore strength and moisture to your hair. For daily care, apply sparingly to wet or dry hair.

Facial Treatments

Daily Facial Care and Cosmetics

Look and feel beautiful everyday with Weleda's harmonizing, moisturizing and protecting Facial Care. Weleda's Facial Care also works in conjunction with cosmetic application. Gently apply Weleda's Almond Intensive Facial Cream, Iris Day Cream or Wild Rose Day Cream as a hydrating and protecting base for makeup application. Apply Wild Rose Eye Cream as a nourishing base for eye makeup. Cleanse your skin at the end of the day and remove makeup with Almond Cleansing Lotion, Iris Cleansing Lotion or Wild Rose Cleansing Lotion. To effectively remove eye makeup, pour a few drops of Almond Facial Oil on to a damp cotton pad, and gently pat over the eye area. The entire face is left radiantly glowing.

Extreme Weather Facial Treatment

Protect the face from extreme weather conditions, such as strong winds, cold, dry environments and the sun with Weleda Everon Face Balm. This nourishing and protective balm helps prevent the skin from losing elasticity and supports the skin’s natural regeneration. It is particularly beneficial when engaging in outdoor activities such as snow/water skiing, snow boarding or hiking. Apply Everon Lip Balm to the lips to soften and protect this sensitive area.

Detoxifying Facial Steam Bath

Treat oily/blemished skin and detoxify the pores with a soothing facial steam bath. Bring four cups (or enough to fill a large bowl) of water to boil. Remove from the heat and add 4 tablepoons of Weleda’s calming and purifying organic Chamomile Tea to steep in the covered water for about 4 minutes. Remove the lid and cover your head and the bowl with a soft cotton towel. Lean over the bowl, being careful not to burn yourself, and relax for 10 minutes as the steam opens and cleanses your pores. Further refresh your skin by splashing it with cool water. Next, pat the face with a cotton pad soaked in Iris Cleansing Lotion Classic. If desired, follow this with Iris Facial Toner and Iris Moisture Cream.

Nourishing Facial Masque

Purify and hydrate the skin 1-2 times per week with a nourishing facial masque. Apply Weleda's Almond Intensive Facial Masque, Wild Rose Facial Masque or create your own facial masque. A customized masque can be created by mixing 1 teaspoon of pure clay, such as Aztec earth—found at your local health food store—with 1 teaspoon of each of the following Weleda formulations: Skin Food, Calendula Cream, Calendula Oil and Iris Facial Toner. Gently apply to the face and neck, avoiding the eye area. For a soothing treatment, allow the masque to remain on the face for at least 15 minutes. Remove with lukewarm water and a cotton pad or wash cloth.

Oral Care Treatments

Soothing Gum Treatment

Treat inflammation of the oral area, such as sensitive gums and cold sores, with Weleda Ratanhia Mouthwash Concentrate. Saturate a cotton Q-tip with this refreshing formula, and apply directly onto sensitive spots and along the gums. Rinse the mouth with cool water for a soothing treatment.

For a warming, stimulating foot bath, use Rosemary Invigorating Bath Milk. To energize your body even further, fill another small tub/bowl with cold water. Alternate the feet every 30 seconds between the warm and cool water. Alleviate mental and physical heaviness with a relaxing foot bath using Lavender Relaxing Bath Milk. Body & Massage Treatments

Relaxing Massage

A gentle massage with a Weleda Arnica Massage Oil revives and nourishes your skin and helps to soothe sore muscles. Prevent sore muscles before exercising and alleviate aching muscles after physical activity with this warming and comforting massage oil. Arnica Massage Oil is the preferred choice among massage therapists worldwide. For additional relaxation, a massage with Lavender Body Oil after a hectic day will soothe the body and senses and support a healthy night's sleep.

Tummy Massage

Care for your body and skin with a soothing Tummy Massage. A tummy massage with Baby Tummy Oil—for babies and adults, Pregnancy Body Oil—if pregnant or Arnica Massage Oil—for an everday soothing masage, helps to relax the body, stimulate the digestion and decrease the presence and formation of stretch marks. To massage the stomach area, lie on your back with a pillow under your head and knees or rest your calves on a chair to relax your abs and pelvis. Massage the Weleda Body Oil of your choice over your stomach area, clockwise with both hands, spiraling outward, with light pressure for at least five minutes. Breathe deeply and feel the calming and nourishing benefits of this massage. Complete the massage by sliding the palm of your hand down your left thigh to ease any digestive disturbances outward.

Detoxifying Cellulite Treatment

Tone and smooth the skin with Weleda Birch Cellulite Oil. This detoxifying treatment blends organic Birch Leaves, organic Rosemary Leaves and Ruskus (Buther's Broom), with nourishing plant oils to stimulate the circulation and elimination processes of the skin. Dermatological studies have shown that within 28 days of use, when applied twice per day, this oil provided a 22% improvement in skin smoothness and tightness. To further enhance this treatment, dry brush the buttocks and thighs with circular motions, upward toward the heart. Then, thoroughly massage the skin with Birch Cellulite Oil both morning and evening. A nutritious, balanced diet, along with an active lifestyle, is also essential to maintaining healthy beauty both inside and out.
